Mark Teplitsky, Flute

As principal flute of the San Antonio Symphony, Mark Teplitsky has been hailed as a beacon “shining in the storm” by the San Antonio Express-News. He received his Bachelor of Music degree at the Colburn School where he studied with Jim Walker and earned a Master of Music degree at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music where he was a student of Leone Buyse. The winner of several solo competitions, Mark has appeared as a soloist with the Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra, Music Academy of the West Festival Orchestra, the Colburn School Orchestra, Brentwood-Westwood Symphony, San Diego Sinfonia and the Now Hear Contemporary Ensemble. His orchestral appearances include concerts with the New York Philharmonic, Houston Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, South Dakota Symphony, Columbus ProMusica Orchestra and the Mercury Baroque Ensemble.

 

In addition to his solo appearances with the San Antonio Symphony, Mark has appeared in recitals across the United States under the sponsorship of the Music Teachers Association of California, National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts, Cactus Pear Music Festival, Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Awards and Orange County Stars of Tomorrow and is a frequent guest lecturer throughout the University of Texas system. Mark is an official performing artist for flute maker Wm. S. Haynes of Boston.
